The Queen herself pulled back the curtain to unveil the display which houses the puck she dropped at a Vancouver Canucks game in 2002 and a Team Canada jersey adorned with her own royal crest. Prime Minister Harper referred to the Queen as "Canada's most valuable player" which caused the crowd of over 300 onlookers to erupt in applause.

Among the first to touch and inspect the puck was Canadian hockey legend Paul Henderson, who scored a momentous goal of his own for Canada in 1972. Henderson's game-eight goal against Russia won the historic Summit Series for Canada, and helped cement hockey's special place in the hearts of Canadians.

"This puck is symbolic of how we come together as Canadians, and how we win as a team," said Henderson. "I am very pleased that this important piece of our history will be accessible to the general public. It really belongs to all of us."

The stick and gloves were used by Crosby to score the overtime goal against the U.S. at the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. The stick and gloves went missing in the post-game celebration and commotion at Canada Hockey Place. The stick was in a shipment headed to St. Petersburg, Russia and the gloves inadvertently ended up in teammate Patrice Bergeron's equipment bag.

"I am happy to see that the stick and gloves are at the Hockey Hall of Fame," said Sidney Crosby. "I am glad hockey fans will get the chance to share the moment by seeing all the artifacts from that overtime up close, including my stick and gloves."

"This puck is a treasure that will attract so many hockey fans to the Hall and we are extremely happy to have it at the Hall of Fame in Toronto," said Phil Pritchard, Curator of the Hockey Hall of Fame. The gold-medal-winning goal puck is on display alongside other artifacts from the men's and women's teams in the HHOF's "Double Gold Exhibit."
