Come Touch The Lucky Loonie
At the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt lake City, a secret hid beneath centre ice. Canadian icemaker Trent Evans had buried "The Lucky Loonie" in the hopes of bringing luck to the Canadian hockey teams. The result was gold medals for both the men's and women's teams.
For years the Loonie has been protected behind glass at the Hockey Hall of Fame where no one could touch it. No one, until now…

HHOF Unveil State-of-the-art Resource Centre
On September 8, 2009, Bill Hay, Chairman of the Hockey Hall of Fame, unveiled the new state-of-the-art "D.K. (Doc) Seaman Hockey Resource Centre" within a new 4-pad arena complex developed by the Lakeshore Lions Club in partnership with the City of Toronto and Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment Ltd.
The 18,000 square foot facility is now the new home of the Hockey Hall of Fame's vast artifact and archival collections and will serve as the focal point for research into the history of Canada's great game and cultural export. In addition, Hockey Canada will occupy a portion of the Hall's premises with a resource centre to support grass roots development programming, along with high performance and sledge hockey events in conjunction with the adjacent ice facilities.

New Voting Procedures Introduced for Honoured Membership
On March 31, 2009, Bill Hay, Chairman and CEO of the Hockey Hall of Fame, announced that new by-law provisions replacing the present requirement to consider male and female player candidates on the same ballot will take effect beginning with the 2010 election proceedings.
Ratified at the Hall's Annual General and Special Meeting of the Members, the newly enacted By-law No. 21 will establish the annual limits for candidates who could be elected in the Player Category at four (4) male inductees and two (2) female inductees.
In other developments, David Branch, President of the Canadian Hockey League, and Mike Gartner, Hockey Hall of Fame Honoured Member, were appointed as new members of the Selection Committee. Scotty Bowman, Jan-Åke Edvinsson, Yvon Pedneault and Harry Sinden were also re-appointed each for a further three-year term.

Award-Winning Hockey Hall of Fame Course Goes On-Line
From hockey's earliest origins to the Great One and beyond, Canada's great game is now being taught exclusively on-line. A credit course at Seneca College in Toronto, titled The Hockey Hall of Fame Presents…, provides the opportunity for students across North America to participate.
The Hockey Hall of Fame and Seneca College's Faculty of Continuing Education have combined to create this landmark and award-winning on-line course, which takes a serious look at the history and evolution of the game. Each week's topics examine the cultural, social and economic impact hockey has had on Canada.
"We're excited about sharing our passion for hockey," says Hockey Hall of Fame Curator Phil Pritchard, who is one of the course's instructors along with the Editor of Publications at the Hockey Hall of Fame, Kevin Shea. "We are delighted to partner with Seneca in order to take the Hockey Hall of Fame's reputation and resources into the classroom."
